The deal comprises the supply of over 3,000 primero in-ear noise reduction headsets, the majority of which are being supplied with Phonak's custom-designed speakermics and wireless PTT units.

These primero systems have been purchased by Shanghai Police with World Expo 2010 firmly in mind. This event runs in Shanghai until October of this year and sees the arrival of many thousands of visitors from across the world, requiring the city’s Police to have access to the very best communications technology available.

Phonak Communications overcame competing bids from both domestic and international competitors to win the tender. The specific order covers the supply of over 3,000:

• primero in-ear noise cancelling headsets
• Custom-configured lapel-worn speakermic units
• Wireless PTT (Push To Talk) units

Shanghai Police will use its primero systems to communicate via TETRA portable radio in high-noise situations, with the option of using externally-worn speakermic units to communicate when noise levels decrease.

Shanghai’s Police received its first shipment of primero systems in March, with additional units being deployed at present. Phonak China has provided, and continues to provide, full product training, fitting and consultancy support.
